55+ Communities
What is a 55+ plus community? It is a residential development that purposely limits the number of residents who are below the age of 55 to less than 20 percent of the whole community. Most communities of this kind have low maintenance homes as well as a variety of shared amenities that are important to seniors and older adults. Pending on the type of community it is possible to buy or rent anything from an apartment, condo, town house, to a fully detached single family home.
Why choose a 55+ community? Some of the main reasons for moving into a 55+ community are to live closer to home, get a home with a higher quality, few responsibilities, modern features, homes that are designed for aging in place, heightened safety and security as well as easy access to fun and organized recreational activities.
55+ communities are appealing for many reasons. This doesn’t mean it’s always right for everyone, but the overall quality of life by having a likeminded community to surround yourself with, goes a long with in quality of life. For example, those who consider themselves snow birds and go somewhere warm in a retirement setting, they are setting themselves up in a 55+ community which is allowing them to build the feeling of community.
Amenities? There are many kinds of amenities that a community can offer. Each one is different so you should defiantly do your research before moving into a community. Find the one that will best suit your lifestyle. Home with covered patios/screen porches, extra-large master bedrooms, walk in closets, and en-suite bathrooms, fitness facilities, swimming pools, community parks, trails, organized activates, shopping, salons, etc.
Considerations: What’s my budget? What are the community’s rules and covenants? What are the potential neighbours like? Does the community offer activities I care about? How far will I have to go for medical care? Is it the right time to buy or rent?
Taking all of these things into consideration is such an important aspect of moving in any situation really, but especially in a place where you think you may end up spending the rest of your life. It’s important to choose a place you know you will truly enjoy living and it won’t cause any extra stress.

Our Supportive Living option is designed for people who are not quite managing on their own and need support to maintain independence.
